How We Help

Core Programs

Civil Art’s core programs include year-long and ongoing platforms that provide opportunities and resources to our stakeholders.

Civil Art Publishing - Editorial Platform
Online & Print Publication dedicated to creating written records of contributions of the API creatives. Civil Art provides digestible and informative writings on public platforms to promote accessibility and education to empower API voices.

Art House - Incubator Platform (Launching in  2025)
Art House is an incubator program designed to support hyper-emerging API artists (including senior-year BFA/MFA students and recent graduates) by offering mentorship, equitable access, financial stability, and career development resources. By fostering opportunities, accessibility, and visibility, Art House serves as a bridge to help local API artists navigate their transition into the city during their pivotal adjustment year.

Learning Lab - Educational Platform (Launching in 2026)
Learning Lab is a series of free, accessible art education videos produced by Civil Art and Drawwing Cabinet. Each lesson is designed for high school students and beyond, as well as the general public. The goal of Learning Lab is to:

1. Provide nuanced insights into the work of contemporary API artists and scholars,
2. Highlight the historical significance and impact of API artists, and
3. Foster greater enthusiasm for art and art history.

Each video is created in collaboration with a different API artist or scholar. Learning Lab integrates critical theory, art history, personal narratives, and the materials that inspire each collaborator. Lessons begin with an introduction to the collaborator’s current practice, which sets the stage for exploring how they incorporate their research and inspirations into their methodologies of interpretation and materialization. Learning Lab aims to increase awareness of the historical significance of API art in a society where this art often remains underrepresented in educational spaces.

Fundraising Events

Civil Art’s major fundraisers generate funds to be shared with fellow non-profit organizations directly impacting API community members in need of immediate suppport. Our marquee events are not only a platform to raise funds but an impactful way to make art accessible and availalbe to a diverse audience and the public.
