“Built by Artists for Artists”
Art House is built with flexibility at its core, making it an ideal space for recently graduated emerging artists. We understand that life after graduation often comes with a mix of responsibilities, commitments, and uncertainty. That’s why Civil Art’s incubator program is designed to meet artists where they are—offering adaptable support that fits a range of schedules and evolving life situations.
Throughout the incubation cycle, professional development workshops and resource-sharing sessions will be scheduled in close coordination with the cohort to ensure maximum participation and engagement. On average, artists can expect 1–2 workshops or events per month, in addition to ongoing access to free and accessible exhibitions, events, and opportunities across New York City. Individual workshops will also be tailored to accommodate each member’s unique schedule.
Art House is created by artists, for artists—with a deep understanding of the challenges, nuances, and perseverance required to build both a dream and a career.
ABOUT ART HOUSE
The Art House Open Call is open for submission from 6/11 - 7/7 and receiving applications from artists who meet the following eligibility:
Applicants must have graduated/are graduating from an arts degree program within the past year (Class of 2024/2025), identify as Asian Pacific Islander (API), and maintain an active fine art practice with the intention of presenting at fine art galleries and institutions at a professional level. Due to the nature of in-person workshops and activities, the program is open to artists who are residing in or relocating to New York City, as well as those who have regular access to the five boroughs—including artists based in parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, and upstate New York. However, for the sake of accessibility and program efficacy, priority will be given to applicants living in NYC.
Art House is built to provide equitable opportunities to API emerging artists and all submitted applications will be reviewed under the criteria of merit and the quality of artwork and statements provided below, the potential impact Art House could have on your career trajectory, and the sincerity and professionalism in the application materials. Please fill out all required fields, and we highly encourage you to complete every section, even those not marked as mandatory. For this inaugural cycle of Art House, Civil Art will be selecting up to 8 candidates. Results will be announced mid-July, and we deeply appreciate you taking the time to fill out our application.
